The Gift:

Title: The Gift
Author: Faraz Ahmad
Written on: July 3rd, 2006.

Remember, remember, the 3rd of October, the day of love and joy,
You don't remember, but I do.

Remember, remember, the strokes of ink, that shaped the promises of eternity,
They still cry out to me, as love bleeds in my hands.

Remember, remember, when I lit myself to save you in your darkest hours,
Don't deny the hand that fed life to your dying confidence.

Remember, remember, the arms that held you, the shadow that shaded you, when you cried enough to soak a trillion souls,
Oh don't be ashamed, face the eyes that promised me the reflection of my perfection.

Remember, remember, the creation of the words that reminded you of your beauty and purity, in the early hours of morning dew,
I suppose I will let it go till you find a reason to help you sleep.

Remember, remember, the star above and the music below,
I still wear this miserable skin, but its finally starting to tear.

Drown the seas long enough for the depths to give up their dead,
What you find at the bottom is still the pearl of love you gave me.

Don't dread your scars and imperfections,
They are your beauty and will help you remember what the past surrendered.

You left me laying on the ground, where I did not belong,
Fear not, for I have risen higher than ever to redeem and prevail.

I leave you with prayers, may the heavens yield you serenity and justice,
A new day has dawned, let us walk this path to new beginnings.

Remember, remember, the 3rd of October, the day of love and joy,
You don't remember, but I do, and this is my proof... my gift to you.
